Pupil Premium
The Pupil Premium is money the school receives from the government to help the most disadvantaged children achieve their best.
The school currently receives £1,480 per year for every eligible child.
Which children at this school are eligible?
Your child is eligible if you are claiming any of the following:
-
Income Support
-
Income-based Jobseeker’s Allowance (JSA)
-
Income-related Employment and Support Allowance (ESA)
-
Support under Part VI of the Immigration & Asylum Act 1999
-
Child Tax Credit — but not Working Tax Credit — and your annual income (as assessed by HMRC) does not exceed £16,190
-
The guaranteed element of State Pension Credit
-
Working Tax Credit ‘run-on’ (paid for 4 weeks after you stop qualifying for Working Tax Credit)
-
Universal Credit — if your household’s net earned income (after tax, not including benefits) is below £7,400 per year
Note
All children in Reception, Year 1 and Year 2 receive a free school meal under the Universal Infant Free School Meals (UIFSM) scheme.
However, if you meet any of the criteria above, please still apply — as this allows the school to receive additional funding (Pupil Premium) to support your child’s learning.
How does the school get the money?
If your child is eligible, the school can only receive Pupil Premium funding if they are registered for Free School Meals.
You can register your child if you receive any of the benefits listed above — even if they prefer to bring a packed lunch.
How to register
You can register for Free School Meals online at:

Important things to know
-
The £1,480 per year per child is in addition to the funding for their free school meals.
-
Your child only needs to be registered — they don’t have to eat the school meal if they prefer a packed lunch.
-
Once eligible, your child will continue to attract Pupil Premium funding for six years, even if your circumstances change.
That’s over £8,800 to support your child’s education.
So even if you expect to claim benefits for only a short period, it’s really worth registering.
